Welcome to Djemila in Northern Algeria. I bet you’ve never heard of this place before, and that just makes me even more excited to share this experience with you 🙂

It truly blows my mind that the Colosseum in Rome has 138,415 reviews on TripAdvisor, whereas Djemila has just 51… And if you ask me, the ruins in Djemila blow away any ruins I’ve ever seen before in my life.

I had the entire ancient city to myself (along with my knowledgeable guide) for the 2 hours that we wandered around. I became lost in time exploring the temples, theatres, houses, baths and markets because there wasn’t any sound except for the wind.
