Plot Summary:
A ruthless and crooked stockbroker is found murdered at his luxurious country estate. Detective Philo Vance happens to be present when the crime occurs and becomes involved in the investigation. As he examines the circumstances surrounding the killing, Vance works to uncover which of the people connected to the victim might be responsible. The investigation unfolds within the setting of wealth and privilege surrounding the estate, where multiple individuals may have had reason to want the victim dead.
