Plot Summary:
In this loose adaptation of Herman Melville’s novel, Ahab is introduced as a charming sailor in New Bedford who falls in love with Faith Mapple, the daughter of a minister and the beloved of Ahab’s brother Derek. After losing his leg to the white whale Moby-Dick on a voyage at sea, Ahab returns home believing Faith has rejected him because of his injury. He then sets out again, determined to find and kill the whale.
