Married at First Sight?

The way people fall in love in India is not common in the Western World. It’s marriage at first sight!

Most weddings in India are ‘arranged marriages,’ where a marriage broker matches you with someone who meets your qualifications and social status (age, religion, etc). In a sense, marriage brokers in India function the same way as Tinder does in the West.

Then, the person seeking love proceeds to go on several dates (5-10 minutes) until they find ‘the one.’ Once both parties agree that they want to spend the rest of their lives together, they decide to get married on the spot. The next time they meet is usually on their wedding day, where hundreds (or thousands) of friends and family members celebrate.
